Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund (HEERF)

The U.S. Department of Education has made Emergency Grant Funds available to students of our institution who need financial support for their expenses related to the continued disruption of campus operations due to COVID19 pandemic. *As a reminder, grant funds are not required to be repaid.

Elite Cosmetology School will be awarding these funds to eligible students in order to provide emergency aid grants to students for expenses related to the disruption of onsite campus operations due to Coronavirus (including eligible expenses under a student’s tuition, cost of attendance, such as transportation, food, housing, course materials, technology, health care, mental health care, and childcare.)

Elite has developed the following eligibility criteria for determining the awarding of the student emergency aid grants:

As stated in the HEERF Act, this grant should only be awarded to students who are or could be Title IV eligible (Federal Financial Aid) Students that are unsure if they are Title IV eligible, should contact Melissa Ramirez via email immediately.

As stated in the HEERF Act, this grant should only be awarded to student’s that display a financial need for the emergency grant funds.

Only active students who are participating in courses actively and who are in good standing will be eligible to receive this grant at this time.

Elite has developed the following process for determining the amount of each student’s award:

Each enrolled and actively attending will receive an application (via DocuSign) for these grant funds. Students on LOA at the time of awarding will also receive the application but will not be awarded funds until they return from LOA. Students that fail to return from LOA and are withdrawn will no longer be eligible for the grant. The previously accounted for grant funds will be reallocated to other students.

Grant funds will only be awarded to those that indicate on their application that they have experienced a Financial Hardship due to COVID19. The individual student grant amount will be determined based on the students EFC and Pell grant eligibility. (The resulting grant amount is calculated using an across-the-board percentage of the 100% Pell grant eligibility for each student based on their individual EFC) Students that have extenuating circumstance and are otherwise not eligible for the grant due to a high

EFC and/or no Pell Grant eligibility may be reviewed on a case-by-case basis, and funds may be awarded based on the professional judgement of the Director of Financial Aid.

Students will receive a Grant Award notification (via DocuSign) indicating if they are an eligible recipient, the CRRSA Act Grant Award methodology for award calculation, amount of award, and the timeline for release of funds.

Calculated awards that are greater than $500.00 will be released in 2 scheduled phases. Calculated Awards that are less than $500.00 will be released in one phase.

Students that withdraw prior to the issuance of all awarded funds, will forfeit their remaining award and the funds will be re-distributed to the remaining student body.

Funds will not be released to students that are not actively attending. Should a student take a Leave of Absence prior to receiving all awarded funds, the awarded funds will be retained until the student returns, at which time, an updated release schedule will be issued to the student and funds will be released accordingly.

Students are advised to contact the Institutions Director of Financial Aid and Compliance with any questions regarding student eligibility, application process, awarding process and funds distribution process. Melissa Ramirez melissa@eliteschools.edu

Cares act emergency grant funds

The US Department of Education has released to Elite Cosmetology School Emergency Grant funds for students impacted by Coronavirus and authorized in the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act (“CARES Act”).
